KDR Skip Bins

Hire Period

How Long Can You Keep a Skip Bin?

Standard KDR hire is 7 days from delivery, and you can keep the bin longer for a set daily rate. Here's how the hire period works and how to plan around it.

Standard hire: 7 days

Every KDR skip bin booking includes 7 days on site, counted from the day it is delivered. For most household clean-ups, single-room renovations and garden jobs that is comfortable — the bin arrives, you load it at your own pace over a weekend or a week, and it is collected.

Keeping it longer

If the job runs past a week, extra hire is charged per day at a flat rate:

Bin sizeExtra hire, per day (GST incl.)
Under 8m³$10.00
8m³ and larger$15.00

Extra hire days are included in your quote when you add them during Get a Price, so the total you see before booking is the total — GST included.

Planning your hire window

A practical tip: book delivery for the day you can actually start loading, not the day the job begins. A bin sitting full for three days before collection uses up hire days that a later delivery would have saved. If you are working around a trade — a demolition crew, a landscaper, a roofer — it is usually worth asking them which day the waste will actually appear.

If you are not sure how long you will need, call KDR on 0419 442 578 and talk it through before you book. Adding days at the start is simpler than rearranging later.

Size affects how long you need it

A bin that is too small can mean a second hire, which costs far more than the extra days would have. Our skip bin size guide works through this job by job, and skip bin sizes and prices shows the full GST-inclusive matrix so you can compare the step up directly.

Before delivery day, it is worth checking the delivery and access guide and confirming what can go in a skip bin. If the timing is the problem rather than the bin, rubbish removal clears a site in one visit with no bin left on the property.
